Advanced Written Assignment:
Each month, you will be required to write about something of "artistic merit." That term is purposefully vague so that you may write about anything you believe is artistic. You may write about an artist, a singular work of art, a series of works, an art movement, an art style, a medium, etc. Pick something that has artistic merit to you. What makes it good, what draws you in, what stands out for it, etc.
This may be hand-written if your handwriting is legible, but a typed essay would be preferred. You must also provide a visual example of what your topic is, either by printing out an image or creating one yourself. These essays are to be 1-page long, and will be turned in at the end of each month.
Your next Artistic Merit Essay will be due on Wednesday the 30th of September.

Six-Word Story Illustration Project:
Students will be creating their own six-word story, which is highly emotive, creates vivid imagery in just six words, and could have the ability to be open to interpretation.
Students will come up with 5 different six-word stories (his or her own, not someone else's). Students will then create rough sketches for two of them. After showing the sketches to Mr. Long and discussing the pros and cons of both, your final will then be completed on larger paper. You may choose to use any media you wish (pencil, colored pencil, paint, watercolor, etc.)
The following are examples:
Born a twin; graduated only child.
We're lying in bed. She's lying.
BREAKING: Simulated beings realize they're simulated.
"Joining the President is his husband..."
Strangers. Friends. Best friends. Lovers. Strangers.
Dot in the sky. Dead pixel.
"Wrong number," says a familiar voice.
Torched the haystack. Found the needle.
"Sorry soldier, shoes sold in pairs."
"Male?" "It's an older driver's license."
Paramedics finished her text, "...love you."
T.H.C., L.S.D., D.U.I., C.P.R., D.O.A., R.I.P.
First sentient robot: "Turn me off."
Voyager still transmitted, but Earth didn't.
"Goodbye mission control. Thanks for trying."
The smallest coffins are the heaviest.
Brought roses home. Keys didn't fit.
My Dads met at Bible camp.
One bullet is a lifetime supply.
Introduced myself to mother again today.
Birth certificate. Death certificate. One pen.
I just saw my reflection blink.
"We're naming the disease after you."
"Passengers, this isn't your captain speaking."
Just Married! read the shattered windshield.
"Siri, delete Mom from my contacts."
"It's our fiftieth, table for one."
Cancer, only three months left. Pregnant.
